Mauritius offers a multitude of activities to have a lot of fun and entertainments. You may choose between watersports and land sports or other activities like bird watching, shopping or simply relax on one of the white sand beaches.

    • Entertainment

      • Nightlife - Besides the active nightlife around the larger hotels, most restaurants, bars and discos are in the north of the island, mainly in Grand Bay. Most clubs are open every night except Sundays but the real nights are only Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
      • Many of the hotels and resorts have evening shows, including sega dancing and music.
      • There are several cinemas and theaters, while casinos can be found at Domaine Les Pailles, Curepipe and Port Louis.
    • Watersports

      Mauritius is truly a water enthusiasts' paradise, with its many opportunities for sailing, canoeing, surfing & windsurfing, scuba diving & snorkeling, kayaking and water skiing.

      • Fishing - Passionate anglers will be pleasantly surprised by the potential catches including the blue and black marlin, several types of sharks, bonita and yellowfin tuna, sailfish, wahoo, barracuda etc. The best time for deep-sea fishing is from October to April.
      • Sailing - Sailing along the coasts of Mauritius, through the crystal clear and calm waters of the lagoons, is certainly an activity that should not be missed. Yachts, power boats and catamarans are available.
      • Surfing - The Bay of Tamarin is said to have the perfect conditions for surfing, and the season lasts from around June to August.
      • Windsurfing - There are ideal conditions for windsurfing almost everywhere in Mauritius, and many hotel resorts provide the equipment for their guests. The season lasts from around June to August.
      • Scuba Diving & Snorkeling - The best diving sites are around Flic en Flac on the west coast. Regarding snorkeling, a good place is the lagoon located near Grand Baie.
      • Kayaking and water skiing - The sheltered bays are perfect for water skiing or ocean kayaking.
      • Glass-bottomed boat tours & Underwater sea walks can be the alternatives to diving for those who wants to discover the marine life in the Indian Ocean.
    • Land Sports

      Golf, tennis, squash, badminton, horseback riding, biking and hiking are few of the recreational facilities available in Mauritius.

      • Horseback Riding - Mont Choisy Estate, located in the north of Mauritius and Le Ranch offer horse riding activities.
      • Golf - The Belle Mare Plage with its two 18-hole Championship Golf Courses is set in a 150-hectares private natural park, along the east coast of the island. There are also other golf courses found in the west of Mauritius.
      • Hiking & Walking - Mauritius has more to offer than just white sandy beaches. Hiking, trekking and mountain climbing can also be organised. Macchabee Forest, Le Pouce, the Black River Gorges National Park, Black River Peak, Montagne Lion and Piton Savanne are some destinations.
    • Other Activities

      • Shopping - With an incredible amount of shopping treasures that await your discovery, Mauritius can be a shopping paradise. Traditional Mauritian Arts and Crafts products, designer clothes, jewellery and textile products can be found in many shopping centres/arcades in all the towns. Best shopping places are in Port Louis, Curepipe, Quatre Bornes and Rose Hill.
      • Birdwatching - Mauritius has some of the rarest birds on Earth. The Mauritius Kestrel, once the world's rarest bird, the Pink Pigeon and the Echo Parakeet, to name only a few, are found here.
